About Kat Hagan
Katherine Hagan, born Katherine Lynn Timer, is originally from Bucks County,
Pennsylvania just north of Philadelphia. She had received her Bachelors of
Fine Art majoring in Painting and Minor in Art History from Temple University's
Tyler School of Art, located in Elkins Park, PA. This is where she began
as a painter and was instructed by faculty that practiced more on concept
and theory versus traditional academic technique. After graduating in 1997,
she relocated to Georgia to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design in pursuit of a Master's degree in Computer Art. Though digital art has had
her art-making processes easier in compositional layout and color palettes,
she still had a lingering passion for painting.
Katherine,
whom now goes by Kat, currently works as a Lead Faculty member in the Graphic
Design department at the Art Institute of Atlanta and as a freelance
artist/designer.
In 2005, she had won Instructor of the Year at Westwood College for
excellence in teaching and student activity involvement as the Faculty Advisor
for the Art
Student Association. She is also active in several organizations, such as
the
Atlanta Artist Center (AAC), Georgia Game Developers Association (GGDA),
International
Animation Society (ASIFA), and College Art Association (CAA).
Working whenever there is a free moment on her painting, she completed this series
of work that deals with abstractions from nature focusing on color and texture.
She recently exhibited this series, which span over the last five years of work
at Spitfire Studios in November 2007. To Kat, art is an evolutionary process,
where everyday brings on a new inspiration. Whether it being learning a new medium,
reading about the latest trends in art and design, or teaching a new group of
students.
"One lifetime is simply not enough time to achieve all the
things we'd like to, but making the most of each passing day by observing the
world
around us, processing that information and applying it however in whatever means
possible, is the best we can do." - Kat Hagan
